Care
Welcome to our Product Care Page!
To keep your furs looking fresh and fluffy:
- Gently Brush the Fur: Use a natural fur brush to remove dirt, and any debris. Always brush in the direction of the fur to avoid damaging it.
- Shake Off Light Debris: Regularly shake your hat to remove light dust and particles. This simple step can help prevent build-up and preserve the natural luster of the fur.
- Spot Clean & Handwash Only: If you notice a stain or spill, gently blot the area with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid rubbing, as this can cause matting. Do not use household cleaners or chemicals on these items, as they may damage the fur or leather. In severe cases, the hat should be taken to a fur cleaning specialist.
Correct storage is key to maintaining your furs shape and texture:
- Avoid Compression: Store your goods on a wide, flat surface or a hat stand to prevent the fur from becoming flattened. Avoid hanging it on a hook or placing heavy objects on it.
- Keep It Cool and Dry: Choose a storage area that is cool, dry, and away from direct sunlight or heat sources, as these can cause the fur to dry out and become brittle.
- Use a Dustbag: When not in use for extended periods, place your hat in a breathable cotton dustbag. Avoid plastic bags, which can trap moisture and promote mold growth.
3. Protect from Moisture
Water can damage both the fur and leather of your hat:
- Avoid Getting It Wet: While a light sprinkle won’t harm your fur, heavy rain or snow can affect the fur and leather. If your hat gets wet, shake off excess moisture, then allow it to air dry naturally. Never use a hot hair dryer or any direct heat to dry the fur, as this can cause damage.
- Reshape While Drying: If your item becomes damp, gently reshape it while it dries. This will help maintain its original form and prevent warping.
4. Professional Cleaning and Maintenance
For deeper cleaning and preservation:
- Seek a Fur Specialist: At least once a year, or whenever needed, take your fur items to a professional furrier for cleaning and conditioning. This process helps maintain the natural oils in the fur and prolongs its life.
5. Handle with Care:
Proper handling will help maintain the integrity of your fur item:
- Minimize Touching the Fur: Oils and dirt from your hands can accumulate on the fur over time, leading to matting. Handle your hat by the interior lining or leather portions whenever possible.
- Keep Away from Strong Odors: Fox fur and Raccoon Fur can absorb strong odors from perfumes, smoke or cooking. Store your hat away from such environments to maintain its freshness.
6. Longevity of Your Furs:
With proper care and regular maintenance, your handmade fur hat or scarf can last for decades! Many furs, when cared for correctly, can remain in excellent condition for 20 years or more, often becoming cherished heirlooms passed down through generations.
Investing a little time in caring for your hat will ensure it stays soft, luxurious, and beautiful for years to come.
